Synthesis Alloy 2.0 Lifetime Warranty
Crankbrothers offers a Lifetime Warranty to the Original Owner/Purchaser of Synthesis Alloy 2.0 Wheels or Rims, covering defects in materials and workmanship of the rim specifically according to the conditions listed below. This includes those purchased at retail or as original equipment on a complete bicycle.
This warranty only applies to Crankbrothers Synthesis Alloy 2.0 products offered from 2025 onward. Any products not specifically included herein are expressly excluded.
THE WARRANTY DOES COVER:
- Manufacturing defects
- Damage caused by crash during normal riding
- Dents or at spots on Synthesis Alloy 2.0 rims where the tire no longer holds air
- Seam separation and/or cracks at the spoke hole area
THE WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER:
- Normal wear and tear
- Visual defects, unless manufacturing-related
- Improper assembly
- Improper maintenance or unauthorized repair
- Installation of components, parts, or accessories not originally intended for or compatible with the products as sold
- Damage or failure due to misuse, abuse, or neglect
- Labor charges for part replacement or changeover
- Hubs and other components (subject to standard manufacturer warranty)
This warranty is void in its entirety by any modification to any products or components. This warranty is expressly limited to the repair or replacement of a defective rim, and said repair or replacement is the sole remedy of the warranty. This warranty applies only to Crankbrothers Synthesis Alloy 2.0 components purchased directly through Crankbrothers or through an authorized dealer or distributor, including those purchased as original equipment on a complete bicycle. Neither Crankbrothers nor its parents, affiliates, or subsidiaries are responsible for any incidental or consequential damages. Some states do not allow the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above exclusion may not apply to you. Any claim against this warranty must be made through either Crankbrothers directly or an authorized dealer or distributor. Proof of purchase is required and mandatory. Claims made outside the country of purchase may be subject to fees and additional restrictions. Warranty duration and detail may differ by country. This warranty gives you specific legal rights, and those rights may vary from place to place. This warranty does not affect your statutory rights. The English version of the warranty shall prevail.
*In countries such as Germany that have laws restricting the usage of a Lifetime Warranty statement or require an explicit warranty term, the Crankbrothers Lifetime warranty, including crashes, has a warranty term of 10 years.
ADDENDUM - Additional Definitions
NORMAL WEAR & TEAR - refers to the gradual and expected deterioration of alloy mountain bike wheels that occur through regular use over time. It includes, but is not limited to:
- Scratches, scuffs, or abrasions to the wheel surface or rim finish from trail debris, transportation, or general riding.
- Minor dents, dings, or deformation from standard trail impacts that do not compromise structural integrity or cause loss of air while tubeless tire is mounted.
- Cosmetic fading or discoloration of decals, paint, or anodizing due to exposure to sunlight, mud, and environmental conditions.
- Spoke tension loss or minor truing adjustments needed over time due to regular riding stresses.
- Corrosion or oxidation due to normal environmental exposure, especially in humid, coastal, or wet conditions
MODIFICATIONS - refers to, but not limited to, any of the following scenarios:
- Drilling or machining the rim - Adding holes for custom spoke patterns, valve stems, lighting, or weight reduction compromises the structural integrity.
- Painting or powder coating the rim or hub - These processes can involve heat or chemicals that affect material properties or tolerance fits — and they can obscure signs of cracking or corrosion.
- Over-boring spoke holes - Modifying or enlarging spoke holes to fit non-standard nipples or spokes can lead to cracking or spoke pull-through.
- Heat-treating or annealing (Alloy Rims) - Any post-processing to alter the temper of the aluminum (e.g. trying to "fix" a dent with heat) can destroy structural integrity.
- Using chemical strippers or aggressive cleaners - These may corrode or weaken alloy material or finishes, especially on braking surfaces or joint areas.
- Corrosion caused by the use of ammonia based latex sealants
