No points, no strategy, no time to conserve. The World Championships present a one day race where the winner takes all.

After a year of World Cup racing the downhill traveling circus arrived in Cairns, Queensland, for a one day showdown. Deep in the Australian rainforest the track contains high speed switchbacks, challenging rock gardens and a sprint long enough to test even the fittest of competitors.

With all the hype focussed on Seagrave and Hannah, Miller stuck to her guns, put down an incredible run and captured mountain biking’s biggest prize. Miranda Miller, your 2017 World Champion. #LongLiveChainsaw

Young English rider Charlie Hatton wrapped up an incredible break out year  filled with eye opening World Cup results with a top 30 result in Cairns. What’s next for the up and comer?

Maybe not the perfect track for the defending World Champion, Danny Hart, but you know he’ll come out swinging in 2018.

What could have been? Greg Minnaar was on fire throughout 2017, continuing his legacy as the greatest of all time. Looking fast on track and always a threat at World Championships, Minnaar’s hopes were cut short with an untimely puncture.

An impressive first year on the Santa Cruz Syndicate for the young Frenchman, with podiums and flashes of speed a plenty. 7th on the day for Vergier with big hopes for 2018.

A great end to a great season. To think Jack Moir was close to quitting after a string of testing injuries just a year ago. 4th place on the day for Moir with much more to come in the future.

A flawless performance after a year of adversity, Bruni knows how to get it done when it really counts. Loic Bruni, your 2017 Elite Men's Downhill Mountain Bike World Champion.
